I began working on Mafia Wars 2 when Zynga was exponentially growing and approaching an IPO. We were shelling out games quickly in the hopes they would reach the viral status of previous games like FarmVille. Mafia Wars 2 was not that game. It was rushed, lacked clear direction, and was a complete failure. For me however, it showed me a couple things: never back down from your intuitions and always push quality.
